The primary ingredient in this beautiful latte is beetroot powder or freshly roasted and blended beets. The preparation typically involves mixing beetroot powder with hot milk or a milk alternative, such as almond, oat, or coconut milk. The mixture is often sweetened with natural sweeteners like honey, maple syrup, or agave syrup, and can be flavored with spices such as cinnamon or vanilla for added depth. Some recipes also incorporate espresso or coffee, creating a unique blend of earthy beet flavors with the rich notes of coffee. Trust me it’s actually amazing! Not to mention it’s absolutely beautiful as well, especially for Valentine’s Day.

Below are a few nutritional benefits.

Beets are known for their impressive nutritional profile, they’re low in calories and packed with essential vitamins and minerals, including vitamin C, potassium, and folate. Beetroot is particularly renowned for its high nitrate content, which improves blood flow and lower blood pressure. Additionally, it contains antioxidants that may help reduce inflammation and support overall health. So when you combine beetroot and milk in a latte, it provides a good balance of carbohydrates, protein, and healthy fats, making it a perfect drink, iced or hot!

Beetroot lattes have become a staple in many trendy cafés and health food establishments, often featured alongside other colorful lattes like turmeric (golden) lattes and matcha lattes. Their eye-catching appearance makes them popular on social media platforms, where vibrant food photography thrives.

——RECIPE——

  • 1 cup Milk
  • 2.5 Teaspoon Beetroot Powder
  • 1 Tablespoon Honey

-Heat milk in a pot, (no more than 160 degrees) whisk in the beetroot powder and honey until smooth. Pour into a mug and enjoy!

  • You can also use maple syrup, sugar, or agave to sweeten it.
  • I use A2A2 milk, but feel free to use oat-milk, almond milk, or any other variations.

The classic beetroot latte is delicious on its own, but there are numerous variations. Some brands add superfoods like maca powder or spirulina, while others might incorporate flavors such as ginger or cardamom for a unique twist. Vegan options are also widely available, using plant-based milk and sweeteners. I love mixing it up with other flavors, but my favorite is the original; organic beetroot powder, fresh A2 A2 milk, and some honey! (Froth the milk and you can make amazing latte art.)

These lattes are not just a health drink; they are an experience that combines nutrition with aesthetic appeal. Whether you prefer it as a morning pick-me-up or an afternoon treat, beetroot lattes offer a way to incorporate the health benefits of beets into your diet. With their rich flavor, vibrant color, and numerous health advantages, beetroot lattes are a delicious trend that shows no signs of fading!
